Welcome to 5th Grade Math!!!!

Hello and welcome to PS 154 5th grade math! It has been a pleasure meeting all of the fifth graders and starting to work with them.  For homework last night, the students were asked to describe "a world without math." Here are a few of their responses - enjoy!

"A world without math would be horrible." (Jeremy, 5-306)
"A world without math would be like, you would not know when you were born or what you weigh.... If you were a mailman, where would you put an envelope?" (Anthony, 5-306)
"To sum it up, everything in life would be HORRIBLE without math." (Jessica, 5-306)
"The world would really be nothing if it weren't for math." (Ella, 5-306)
"It would be a world of confusion." (Kyra, 5-306)
"It would be a very hard life." (Keith, 3-306)
"It would be really terrible because people need math in order to survive." (Leigh, 5-302)
"It would be boring without math...I can't play guitar without math." (Cooper, 5-302)
"You wouldn't even know what time was since it revolves around numbers." (Dylan, 5-302)
"A world without math would be disastrous." (Olivia, 5-302)
"If math did not exist, people would not be playing certain games, like foursquare, or even baseball." (Gideon, 5-302)
"It would be a devastating world to live in, and most people would not have good lives." (Luka, 5-302)
"Without math, we wouldn't have food or water, or a home, maybe not even school!" (Victoria, 5-307)
"We would probably use sundials, labeled snack-time, treat-time, and so on." (Nora, 5-307)
"The world would become unproductive and slow." (Piper, 3-307)
"Everything you see is mathematical formula: water, humans, fruit, chicken, everything....Without the application of math, no field or profession would be complete." (Nicholas, 5-307)
"The world would change, because the world is technically math itself." (Ozzy, 5-307)
